The Divine Word of God

"All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living, so that the person who serves God may be fully qualified and equipped to do every kind of good deed." 2 Timothy 3:16-17. TEV.

"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth." 2 Timothy 2:15. KJV.

"Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God." Romans 10:17. NKJV.

"No one can please God without faith, for whoever comes to God must have faith that God exists and rewards those who seek Him." Hebrews 11:6. TEV.

These four scripture verses are just a few of the scriptures that show us why we should be steadfast in reading and studying the Word of God.

The written Word of God is a divinely inspired book that God had recorded for us, so we would know all about Him, and ourselves, and our enemy, and our eternity.

Knowing about God, ourselves, and our enemy, the devil, is very important to our eternity. That is why God spent time and effort to have the Bible recorded for us to read and study. He wants us to understand what we need to do to have a blessed eternity with Him, instead of a miserable eternity with our enemy. Eternity is forever, never-ending. So we need to make a wise choice in regards to our eternity.

God tells us in Deuteronomy 30:14-15, "The Word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it. See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil."  NKJV.

Life is eternity with God, death is eternity separated from God. Life with God brings good to us. Life separated from God brings evil to us.

And in Deuteronomy 30:19 He tells us the choice is ours, "I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live" NKJV.

It is not God’s Will that any should perish – die – be eternally separated from Him and spend eternity in hell with our enemy, the devil. So He cries out to us to choose life – being with Him in Heaven. No one can make this choice for us. God gave each individual the right to choose for themselves where they wanted to spend eternity. There are only two choices – Heaven or hell. The choice is all ours so we can never blame anyone else for where we spend eternity.

Psalm 119:11 gives us this wise advice, "I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You." NIV.

When we hide God’s Word in our heart, the Holy Spirit can recall it to our remembrance to help us in times of temption to say, "NO, I will not say or do anything that is displeasing to God."

In John 10:10, Jesus Christ – the Son of God tells us, "The thief comes only in order to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life – life in all its fullness." TEV.

The thief, the devil, who is our enemy, is not only a thief but a liar as well. He tries to get us to believe his lies and accuses God of being the liar. God is Truth and will always tell the truth, for He cannnot lie. While the devil can never tell the truth.

Jesus tells us in John 8:31, "If you abide in My Word, you are my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." NKJV.

When you know the truth, the devil cannot ensnare you in his lies. You are set free of his hidden traps. Truth will always expose the lies of the devil.

Jesus calls out to us in John 15:4, "Abide in Me, and I will abide in you." NKJV.

When we dwell in the written Word of God and abide in the Living Word of God, Jesus Christ, we are dwelling in the secret place of the Most High and abiding under the shadow of the Almighty.

"Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ." Philippians 1:2. NKJV.
